Glass museum: The Museum of American Cut & Engraved Glass displays more than 400 pieces of glass from the American Brilliant
Period. The museum is open
Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. through October. Admission is free. For more

Live Music: Brad Vroon performs from 7 to 9 p.m. on
Wednesdays and Saturdays at The Lodge BBQ and Trout House in Scaly
Mountain. He performs on Thursdays and Fridays at Rib Shack in Highlands.

Farmers market: The Franklin Farmers Market is open every
Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon across from Drake Software on Palmer
Street. Items include organic breads and produce, herbs, landscape and ornamental plants, jams, jellies, relish, feta cheese and more


Writers group: The Highlands Writers Group meets year round on
Thursdays at the library. At 1 p.m. the group does writing
exercises, and a two-hour peer critique begins at 2 p.m. The last Sunday of each month group members read work from 3 to 5 p.m. at
Shakespeare and Company. Leaders are Anne Doggett and Marda Burton. For more information, contact Isabel Allen at 526-3455.

Yoga: A yoga class meets at 7:30 a.m.
Mondays and Wednesdays at the Highlands recreation center. Bring your own mat.

Quilting: Cashiers Quilters Guild meets every
Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church on Hwy. 107 south of the
crossroads. All quilters welcome. Beginners/professionals in attendance! For more information, call Lois Williams 743-2644.

Exercise:
Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:15 to 6 p.m.:  cardio-kickboxing at the Highlands Civic Center. It is a fun and energetic
workout; no experience required. For more information, call (828) 421-2042.

Runners: The Highlands Roadrunners Club meets in front of the Town Hall every
weekday at 4:30 p.m. and every Saturday at 9 a.m.
Daily runs are usually three to six miles. Weekend runs are longer. Visitors are always welcome. Call Richard Betz at 526-5266 for
more information.

Exercise: The Heart Healthy Exercise Group meets from 8 to 9 a.m.
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Highlands Civic
Center. Cost is $15 per month. Interested persons may sign up at the civic center just before any session. For questions, call the civic

Toning class: Jeanette Fisher instructs a toning class at 9 a.m.
Tuesdays and Thursdays at HealthTracks. For more information, call

Pilates: Sandie Trevathan teaches Pilates classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 4 p.m. on the first floor of the Jane Woodruff

Yoga class: Rebecca Landis teaches a yoga class from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays on the first floor of the Jane Woodruff Clinic
on the campus of Highlands-Cashiers Hospital. For more information, call 526-1FIT.

Tutors: The Literacy Council of Highlands is in need of volunteer tutors for the After-School Tutoring Program and Adult Literacy
Program. No education experience is needed. Full training and curriculum is provided. Call 526-9938, ext. 240, for more details.
