Communities in the Highlands Area
Generally speaking the area around Highlands has five
distinct areas of living, each with its own special features.
Highlands has the highest average elevation and it is known
for its quiet living and Main Street activities "big city" lifestyle of
theaters, shops, and restaurants, in a small mountain
community.
Cashiers has a number of communities, like Trillium,
Highlands Cove, High Meadows, that provide more of a golf
club style living environment. Slightly lower in elevation than
Highlands, more spread out, and without the Main Street
lifestyle.
There are a number of golf communities between Highlands
and Cashiers including, Highland Falls CC, Wildcat, Highlands
Cove, and Cullasaja.
Sapphire is east of Cashiers and a lower
elevation. Similar home styles of
Cashiers. The distance from
Highlands-Cashiers provides a lower
price-point for homes.
Bear Lake Community is a new lake /
golf club style living environment. Sixteen
miles north of Cashiers, Bear Lake
provides views, lake lots, a new lake club
house, and an Arnold Palmer designed
9-hole, mountain top, golf course. This is
a higher end gated community with lot
prices ranging from $280,00 for mountain
lots to $750,000 for lake side lots.
Scaly Mountain is just eight miles south
of Main Street, Highlands and provides
excellent view lots and secluded living.
