Highlands is situated on the top of the Blue Ridge
Mountains, and is popular for the cool, summer weather,
where it seldom gets over 82 F, even in the middle of the
summer.
This area is considered a rain forest, and located in
Highlands is a Biological Station and Botanical Gardens,
that is home to more different species of plants than
anywhere else in the US. Students travel there from all
across America to conduct studies during the summer
months.
The area provides a wide variety of activities, including
golf, hiking, fishing, fine dining, bird watching, and don't
forget shopping at the many Main Street antique,
clothing, book, furniture, and jewelry stores.
The natural beauty of Highland is its most cherished
aspect. Blessed with majestic mountains, clean air,
breathtaking waterfalls, countless streams, abundant
wildlife, and unspoiled views, the town works very closely
with its citizens and business to maintain the natural
charm as well as the man-man attractions.
